The Friendly Festival
Largs Gaelic Choir
The Choir was formed in 1980 and geographically is the most southern of all the Gaelic Choirs. Although based in Largs, members also come from Paisley, Gourock, Dalry, Beith, Ardrossan and Skelmorlie. The Choir meets every Tuesday at the Scottish Episcopal Church Hall, Aubrey Crescent, Largs. New members are always very welcomed. A knowledge of Gaelic is not essential.
Since it began, the Choir has been competing every year at the Royal National Mod, which is the main cultural event in the Gaelic world. The Largs Choir has been very successful over the years winning many of the prestigious competitions on numerous occasions.
As a Choir we have a lot of passion and enthusiasm to keep alive the Gaelic language, music and culture and to this end we very much appreciate the support and encouragement received from North Ayrshire Council.
