Fran Schoppler's Biography

Fran Schoppler cut her teeth with indie rock band, Jesse Garon and The Desperadoes, in the mid-1980s in Edinburgh, releasing 7 inch singles, several EPs and 2 albums and touring the UK. She started writing her own songs in the late 80s/early 90s and in 1997 she started performing by herself on the open mic circuit in Glasgow, meeting new musical friends on the way.

She currently has several musical projects on the go:

Southpaw - band playing singer-songwriter originals and covers, roots and Americana with longtime collaborators Helen Reeves and Roy Hunter.

The Fran Schoppler Band - showcases her own songs, with guitarist Jay McGurran, double bass player Roy Hunter, with extra guitar/backing vocals provided by Helen Reeves.

The Cut Throat Razors - in late 2015 Fran joined The Cut Throat Razors, a ska, funk and soul band from central Scotland who write their own songs, providing backing vocals for this exciting 9 piece band with a big sound.

The Furballs - band playing rock, pop and Americana covers.

Fran has collaborated with other musicians on various projects and has written music for independent short films and TV programmes. She performed original songs with the Scottish Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the Lochwinnoch Choir concerts. Fran plays regularly in venues throughout Lochwinnoch since moving to the village in late 2003.
